Grass or Grain
At Blythe Cattle Co, we don’t believe there is a “right” or “wrong” finish—only the finish that’s right for you. That’s why we offer both grass-finished and grain-finished beef, raised with the same standards of care, stewardship, and quality.
No matter which you choose, you can trust:
- Responsible animal care
- Thoughtful nutrition and management
- Honest practices from pasture to plate
The difference is the finish. The quality is the same.
Grass-Finished Beef
Our grass-finished beef comes from our cattle that are raised on pasture and finished on pasture, eating grass and forage for their entire lives.
What to expect:
- Leaner cuts with a firmer texture
- A slightly earthier, more robust flavor
- Higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids and CLA
- Best suited for customers who value a pasture-based diet and a natural finish
Grass-finished beef reflects a traditional approach to ranching and is often preferred by those looking for a leaner protein with a distinct, natural taste.
Grain-Finished Beef
Our grain-finished beef comes from our cattle that are raised on pasture. For the final 90 days before harvest, they receive access to a supplemental grain, with no other differences in how they are raised.
What to expect:
- More marbling and tenderness
- A rich, buttery flavor profile
- Consistent texture and juiciness
Grain finishing enhances marbling and flavor, resulting in the tender cuts many customers associate with premium beef. About 97-99% of beef sold in U.S. grocery stores is grain-finished.
